Cables and Conductors Sector
- Presently, more than 150 cable and conductor units are operating in and around Jaipur
- More than 12 units are already operating in the NCR region
- The State is contributing over 26% of country's total cable and conductor production
- The present investment stands at Rs500 crore; exports at Rs10 crore; nearly 10000 persons currently employed in the sector
- Investment of Rs1000 crore for new cable units at Pathredi in Bhiwadi in the pipeline
- The State is seeking installation of additional power generating capacity of 4500 MW by 2011-2012
- The State has undertaken the Feeder Reform Programme with keen interest. Till August 2008, 8474 feeders have been renovated, entailing an expenditure of Rs2633 crore ,and subsequently resulting in a cumulative loss reduction by over 10%
- In the urban focus programme, segregation of urban feeders from rural feeders has been completed. Obsolete service lines have been replaced by armoured cables, resulting in an overall loss reduction by 20 to 22%
- In the industrial sector, network strengthening has been undertaken, covering 132 KV Sub-station to 400 KV Sub-station
- The Reform Programme initiated by the State Government has opened new markets for cable and conductor industriesTOP
Handicraft
Rajasthan is indisputably recognized worldwide for its manufactured handicrafts, including wooden, metal-based, stone, ceramics & textile products.
- Investments over Rs2000 crore have been made in the sector
- Jodhpur and Jaipur are prominent centers for handicraft industry
- Handicraft exports from the State during 2006-07 stand at nearly Rs2000 crore, accounting for 20% of India's export.
- Rajasthan stands second in India's handicraft exports, next to Uttar Pradesh.
- Currently, there are more than 2000 units in the handicraft export business, employing more than 5 lakh people
- The State's handicraft sector is witnessing a growth of 10% annually
Stones
- The State's marble reserves currently stand at 1144 million tonne, out of India's total marble reserves of 2216 million tonne (90% of India's total marble reserves)
- Granite reserves currently stand at 8479 million cubic meters out of India's total reserves of 42916 million cubic meters
- The State has nearly 90% of the country's sandstone reserves amounting to 900 million tonne
- The State has 70% of the country's Flaggy limestone (Kota stone) reserves
- Investments totaling over Rs5000 crores have been made in the mining and processing industry; currently employing more than 1 lakh persons.

Solar Energy
- Rajasthan has the best solar insulation in the country and abundant cheap land
- More than 80,000 domestic lighting systems have been installed in over 1400 villages
- 80 villages have been electrified through stand alone SPV plants of 10 KV each
- Additional generation capacity of 4500 MW has been planned by the year 2011-2012, part of which will be generated by using solar energy
- Policy for 'Promoting Generation of Electricity through Non-conventional Sources 2004' has been put in place
The policy provides for power generation for captive or sale of consumers/licencees including Discoms
As per the policy, allotment of land for production units is to be made at a concessional rate (10% of DLC)
- Looking at the potential for availability of land, the State Government is seeking an enhancement of the maximum ceiling from 10MW to 100 MW
